SUMMARY:Tracking SDG 7 – The Energy Progress Report Announced
DESCRIPTION:According to the report\;\n7.1.2 – Access to Clean Cooking Fu
 els and Technologies\n⏳ Access to clean cooking is increasing\; however\,
  the world is still significantly behind the 2030 target.\n📉 While 2.7 b
 illion people worldwide lacked access to clean cooking in 2015\, this numbe
 r declined to 2 billion in 2024. Today\, approximately 75% of the global po
 pulation benefits from clean cooking fuels and technologies. However\, if t
 he current trend of progress continues\, the access rate is expected to ris
 e to only 79% by 2030\, leaving approximately 1.8 billion people dependent 
 on polluting cooking methods.\n🌍 The region where the access gap is most
  concentrated is Sub-Saharan Africa. Approximately 970 million people in th
 e region lack access to clean cooking\, and this number is projected to rea
 ch 1 billion by 2027. Of the 2 billion people without access to clean cooki
 ng\, 1.5 billion live in rural areas.\n📌 According to the report\, accel
 erating progress requires addressing energy\, health\, development\, climat
 e\, and food security policies together and developing solutions tailored t
 o local needs for rural areas and countries experiencing the largest access
  gaps.\nAccess to clean cooking is critically important not only in terms o
 f energy access\, but also for protecting human health\, reducing air pollu
 tion\, and addressing social inequalities.
