SUMMARY:♻️ Textile Waste Month
DESCRIPTION:✨ As part of the 2026 Zero Waste Annual Theme Plan\, August
is being observed as Textile Waste Month in order to draw attention to the
environmental impacts of textile waste\, support sustainable consumption ha
bits\, and emphasize the importance of the circular economy approach.\n🌍
The textile sector is one of the sectors with the highest environmental i
mpact due to its high water and energy consumption\, intensive use of raw m
aterials\, and the amount of waste it generates. Despite this\, a significa
nt share of textile products that have reached the end of their useful life
cannot be reintegrated into reuse or recycling processes.\n🌱 Extending
the lifespan of garments\, promoting repair and reuse habits\, supporting
second-hand consumption\, and strengthening recycling practices contribute
to the conservation of natural resources\, the reduction of waste\, and the
lowering of greenhouse gas emissions.\n🙌 Reducing textile waste is not
only the responsibility of producers\, but also a shared responsibility of
consumers\, public institutions\, and all stakeholders. By adopting consci
ous consumption habits and choosing practices that support the circular eco
nomy\, we can contribute to a more sustainable future.\nProf. Dr. Rana Atab
