The Circular Economy model, which supports the idea of “closed-loop material flow” with the foresight that achieving sustainable development goals can be accomplished through the protection of the natural environment and resources, aims to reduce resource use through methods such as “reuse, repair, and recovery,” as well as long-lasting design, durable goods production, and waste reduction. Within the scope of this model, the Circular Economy Working Group in 2024:
1- Designed Braille keyboards and raised awareness for sustainable accessible living, 2- Conducted waste management using energy harvesting systems through energy loss optimization, 3- Initiated the formation of Sustainable Living and Living Villages for vulnerable individuals, 4- Established partnerships within the scope of university-industry collaboration.
The group has initiated studies on these topics, published one paper, had one project approved by the Social Contribution Commission, and contributed to the signing of a protocol between S4C and Medipol TTO.
The goals for 2025 include: completing the initiated projects, participating in an EU project based on meetings held with domestic and international stakeholders, measuring the carbon footprint by collecting data starting from the floors of our University’s south campus, and organizing activities to raise awareness for sustainable accessible living.
