Prof. Dr. Rana Atabay Kuşçu, Director of the Sustainable Development Practice and Research Center (SURKAM) at Istanbul Medipol University, participated in the United Nations “Expert Meeting on Trade, Investment, Climate, and Sustainable Development”!

As countries update their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, aligning trade and investment policies with climate objectives has become increasingly important.

The meeting addressed strategies to accelerate this process, trade opportunities that support sustainable development, and just transition policies.

Within the framework of UNCTAD’s COP29 initiative — the Baku Initiative on Climate Finance, Investment and Trade Dialogue (BICFIT) — roadmaps are being developed to support innovation and renewable energy investments for developing countries.

Prof. Dr. Rana Atabay Kuşçu expressed her great pleasure in being part of these significant initiatives aimed at advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
