The “Sustainability and Twin Transformation” project, carried out by Istanbul Medipol University and supported by İSTKA, will continue to support a broad transformation process in the plastics sector, ranging from sustainable production to digitalization. Comprehensive activities addressing sectoral needs will be implemented, including maturity analyses, sustainability reporting, roadmaps, and employee training programs.
Alongside these efforts, the institutional structure of our Center will also be strengthened; our fields of activity, competencies, and working model will be updated through the published regulation. Our Center will be positioned under the name Sustainable Development and Twin Transformation Application and Research Center (SURKAM) to create a broader impact in both sustainable development and twin transformation domains.
With its new structure and expanded mission, SURKAM will:
• Conduct policy, analytical, and technical studies in green and digital transformation,
• Strengthen university–industry–public sector collaboration,
• Organize training programs, seminars, and certification programs,
• Develop expertise in carbon management, circular economy, energy efficiency, supply chain sustainability, and ESG,
• Design national and international projects and apply to funding mechanisms,
• Provide consultancy to institutions during transformation processes and establish new working groups.
Our new name and updated duties will enable our Center to assume a stronger, more effective, and more inclusive role in sectoral transformation.
We thank İSTKA, Istanbul Medipol University, and our project partners for their support.
Transformation for a sustainable future will begin with SURKAM.
