Women in Design: Award-Winning Project

Istanbul Medipol University faculty member Dr. Seher Oya Akman received the Bronze Award at the Crescents and Stars for Packaging Competition for her innovative Elvish Honey packaging design. Registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), the design combines aesthetic form, regional identity, and functional usability—demonstrating the strong creative leadership of women in design and innovation.

Dr. Akman’s work emphasizes sustainable design principles, efficient material use, and product integrity. Her internationally recognized career includes numerous awards, most recently the 2024 Gold Intellectual Property Award presented by the Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network (Global WIIN). This achievement highlights the University’s commitment to advancing women’s visibility, leadership, and excellence in creative industries within the framework of SDG 5: Gender Equality.
